where it was  years ago
trying to make since of it all
This time you called a friend who
personified the very definition of the human spirit
 Someone who never asked why?
just seemed to ask why not

You gave him a beautiful heart and soul
One so pure and unselfish
He taught all who knew him
how to love one another unconditionally
 When my heart longs to find him I’ll
remember the love he had for all of us
I hope he’ll be there to take
 my hand leading me home one day

As I write these words I realize
 the one question that keeps running
 through this head of mine is
 Did you really have to take him from us so soon?

I can try as I might to understand
all the mysteries of this life
Yet when it comes to matters of heaven
I surrender to you
