Love Under the Moon

She walks onto the beach, the night darker than she’s ever seen

Then she finds herself asking, why did he have to go?

The only lights she can see are

beams of silver emanating

from a circular cloud of blue

Blue like the feeling that has a hold of her heart

As her tears start to fall

Waves crash angrily against the sand

forcing her to recall the night they met

That night a few short years ago

she walked onto the beach, literally bumping into

someone she never expected to meet

The moon light seemed brighter than either

ever could’ve imagined

They talked for a few hours not realizing time had flown by

Their love story finding its beginning

that night under the moon

Her heart full of butterflies and excitement

He held her tight as they lay gazing

up at the stars dreaming of a life together  

Now all she has are memories of their love

His sense of duty for his country called his name

He gave his life without question

When the pain gets to be hard to bare and she needs peace

she goes to the beach to remember love under the moon
