Who would’ve thought she’d be sitting at home on YouTube
and come across a video of a Palestinian American spoken word poet that would
inspire her in more ways than she will ever knowHer story brought the plight of people she’d only ever read about
in books or occasionally heard about on the news
to life as a result pulling on her heartstrings
and come across a video of a Palestinian American spoken word poet that would
inspire her in more ways than she will ever knowHer story brought the plight of people she’d only ever read about
in books or occasionally heard about on the news
to life as a result pulling on her heartstrings
Over the next few years she looked for new videos
from the woman she now considers to be one of her heroes
Those videos became the burst of strength and encouragement
she needed to pick herself back up when she was down
Whenever her “Poor me” attitude reared its ugly head
her inner voice said “it could be worse”
Then as if that same voice were trying to be heard over a million others
the phrase “yeah, a lot worse” seemed to vibrate in her ear
like vibrations that occur while a loud noise dissipates
She is a true vessel of peace and
She is thankful that the words this strong yet vulnerable woman
has spoken can’t be unspoken no matter what
Like her, she can only hope the words she writes will touch
others the way her videos have done
making an impact on her
An impact she knows will last a lifetime and
like her words, she hopes her own words of inspiration can and will be
a legacy to be proud of
