Happily Ever After

When she was a little girl she
dreamed of finding her prince charming
A tall dark gorgeous man who’s
only mission in life is to take care of his little princess
Giving her everything she could ever want or need

What the fairytales didn’t tell her is that
some princes may be stunning to look at, but
they leave a lot to be desired in the personality department
She has known some of these so called princes for a while now
Often finding herself questioning whether or not she
would ever find a prince who
loves her as much as she loves him

Well she was lucky to find her prince charming
You’ll probably be shocked to hear
he’s not dark like the prince of a girl’s long ago dreams but
that’s okay he has everything
she always wanted but never dreamed
she could have one day

If you were to look through her eyes
you’d see a man who is a little taller than her
A man who has a fare complexion
just as she does
A man who’s sexy as hell and
has a personality she can’t get enough of

Even though happily ever after is
a tough and nearly impossible concept to live up to
She believes they can come close
If they’re willing to work on the problems that
will pop up from time to time

Unlike the relationships in fairytales
he is not solely responsible for her happiness
She’s an independent woman who
loves him more than he will ever know
Yet she still has dreams that she wants to chase
In the end making both their lives better

Four Leaf Clover

Her luck must be about to change for the better
at least that’s what her inner voice is telling her
She believes the four leaf clover she found is
a sign the tide of life is
about to take a positive turn for her
Is it too good to be true?

She’s pretty optimistic just
like she’s always been
She knows her turn is coming
With some good ole fashion Irish luck and
her faith everything she’s ever needed
will soon be hers

Dark Chocolate

She wakes wondering why
this dark chocolate man with skin as smooth as silk
keeps finding his way into her dreams after midnight
Is this why dark chocolate is forbidden?
She asks silently as she stands waiting
to see if their bodies become one tonight
Will she let nature guide her or will
love win the battle?

She has a man she loves more than life itself but
Mr. Dark Chocolate takes her to heights she's never known
All it takes is one caress of his tongue starting on her cheek and
making its way down her neck and
she's hooked like a dark chocolate addict
who needs her fix
She then realizes she can't walk away
from her dark chocolate dream
Now wondering if she would even want to

Breathlessly she wakes feeling like
her dark chocolate dream has taken
the one thing she wanted to share with
the love of her life
Relax she tells herself it was just a dream
That gift is still yours to share
with the one you love

Broken Wing

I feel like the beautiful red robin
sitting on my window ledge
Singing what sounds like a beautiful yet heartbreaking melody
As her angelic notes reach my ear
I can’t help but wonder what has her so sad

Is it love gone wrong?
No, I say in answer to my own question it's a different kind of pain
Love should never hurt such a breathtaking creature
like herself
She seems to be pleading with someone
as If to say if you could just listen
I’ll tell you what’s bothering me

I’m here I tell her
Then I see the cause of all her grief
she has a broken wing and
like me she doesn’t want to depend on anyone but herself
I will only give you the help you need
I won’t take away your freedom
I promise her
You will be as good as new before you know it
then you can have the freedom
you need my friend

I realize the robin and I
want the same things
The freedom to be who we are
I hope I can be like her someday soon

Dear Mom

I know no matter how old I getI’ll always be your little girl and
I want you to know I’ll always love you
Lately we’ve been getting on one another’s nerves
saying things we both know we don’t mean
Yet we’re not saying the things loved ones
should never leave unsaid
We’ve been through a lot you and I and
It hurts to hear you question my love
I know that phrase is made up of three little words but
I promise life has taught me not to use that phrase
unless I mean it
When it comes to you dear mom
I always have, and I always will mean it
I love you yet I have so much to say
Some of which might sting but
I have to be honest
Isn’t that what you taught me not so long ago?

I never wanted to be a burden to you
The truth is I feel like I have been
for quite some time and
I’m truly sorry but
I refuse to be your excuse for
your problems anymore
I wasn’t to blame for you dropping out of college
that was your own doing
I wasn’t to blame for coming into the world
with the disability God chose for me to face
that was a choice I had no say in but
I see it as a gift

I’m the daughter whose eyes you see
your own regret in when you gaze into them
The knowledge of that fact makes me want to cry but
I won’t because I know crying is the
one thing that makes me weak
at least in your eyes
I’m shedding your regret
like a heavy coat on a warm day

I want us to have a mother daughter relationship like we once did
when my mom was the center of my world and
I was the center of hers
When all is said and done
I’ll always be there whenever you need me

Isabella Destany

Where am I?
I ask sitting in a place so dark I
couldn’t even see my hand if it was in front of my face
No response to my question
All I hear are a little girl’s squeals
of pure delight
This must be a dream I realize

Then I see my love sitting right next to me
he smiles that evil but cute
smile I can’t help but love, yet says nothing
Suddenly the darkness lifts and
I’m shocked by what I see

The little girl whose squeals I heard
has the same blonde curls my love use to
I can’t see anymore of her features because
she has her back to me
I ask “Oh God could she be?”

Then I call her by the name I’ve had
in my heart if we should ever be blest
with a daughter

Isabella Destany; in an instant she turns and
says “Yes mommy!”
I can’t believe how beautiful she is
the spitting image of her dad
I know from that point on she is our little girl

I’ve had that dream a few times over the years
what I wouldn’t give for it to come true
Yet I know there is only one who knows
I’ll leave it up to Him

Anonymous

Why do some people feel the need to bully others?
When I was growing up which wasn’t all that long ago
it wasn’t uncommon to hear that someone had been in a fight
with a bully in school and
the victim was taking a stand against them
The worst that happened was that
one or both got suspended for a few days

I remember the days before cell phone cameras and the internet
when fights weren’t about to go viral with just one click of a mouse
What happened to that saying our parents drilled into our heads?
If you can’t say anything nice
don’t say anything at all

Now bullying can happen
anywhere one can find an internet connection
Bullies can post anything they want online
all while being under an anonymous cover

Do we still believe in the saying
sticks and stones may break my bones but
words will never hurt me?
Well, I’m telling you I don’t
All we have to do these days is
watch the news so we can see how untrue that saying really is
If we’re not careful words can kill

To those that are bullying others
I say put yourself in the other person’s shoes
Would you like it if they were bullying you?
Here’s another piece of advice
If you wouldn’t say what you’re about to
post to someone’s face
don’t post it
