Giving Her Heart to God

Her heart aches more than words can say in this fleeting instant
It feels as if she’s carrying a ton of weight on those shoulders of hers and
she doesn’t even have the strength to shed tears
Wishing she could float away on a soft cloud past this pain
sounds like a chance she’d take if she could
Some of the friends who said they’d be there if she ever needed them
are busy with their own lives and that’s okay

Although, she’d like to think she can get through this on her own
This time she knows it’ll take a little more so
she’s giving her heart to God
Who better to give her heart to than
the one who created it for her in the first place?
She has faith and trusts He’ll know what to do
All she can do is listen to her heart
eventually his love will heal her heartache
bringing her into the light beyond the pain

Where I Stand

Anyone who knows me will tell you
I’m a sweet person who will
trust someone unless and until
they give me a reason not to and
I’d really like to think I can trust the people who
make it a point to tell me I’m their friend
So if you know what’s good for you my friend?
Don’t give me a reason to doubt you considering
the fact I’m learning trust is a fragile quality
A quality more fragile then I once thought

Lately people I love have told me I
need to stand up for myself and
what I believe in
The way I see it I’ve come a long way but
when it comes down to this issue
I’ll always be a work in progress

If you don’t know me by now
let me tell you when I get upset I hold things in
until I can’t hold back anymore
I know it isn’t right to hate anyone but
I’ll also tell you I hate liars with a passion so
if you’re thinking of lying to me you may
as well walk out of my life for good
This is proof the truth will always set you free and
that’s where I stand

The Locket

She opens the silver heart shaped pendent to peer inside
because he’s been on her mind a lot as of late
A smiling face she’d seen for eighteen years
but has missed  dearly for almost six seemed to be calling out to her
Don’t forget I’m one heartbeat away from you at all times..”
Then as if he were standing right in front of her she softly whispered
“How could I forget you?

Suddenly the memories of all the great times they shared
found their way into her head and the tears began to flow
She remembered all the times he had her pull the lawn moor around their block
because he didn’t want to push it from house to house himself or
the times they played  for hours wishing the light of day would never fade
There are many more great memories she will forever hold dear
If she ever forgets his face all she has to do is
open the locket to see how full of life he was
Even though he’s gone to heaven he’s taught her
to never again take life for granted
And to love without holding back
The only thing she can promise him is
that she’ll try to live her life the way he’d want her to
