Summer Night of Love

It was a night in early July the heat floating in the air
Yet the weather wasn’t the provider of
the heat she will soon write about
Instead the night air was unusually cooled by
a passing rainstorm or two

Her hear t beating faster than it had in a long while
Why was her heart doing this?
It wasn’t like she hadn’t seen the love of her life
at a great Tahoe Fox show two weeks prior
it was in that moment she realized time didn’t matter and
she also realized how much she really missed
everything about him in a short period

Then she saw him and instantly felt the flutter of
butterflies take over like a nervous schoolgirl who had
her first crush on the guy of her dreams
As she pulled in next to him electricity from somewhere
deep inside their hearts drew them closer to one another
Suddenly their hearts seemed to be speaking a language
both have heard before but as of late
they’ve forgotten to listen to
All it took was the scream of the guitar and
time seemed to melt away

That summer night of love
will be one she hopes will always be
a night they never forget
Her greatest hope is if life ever
takes them on separate journeys
as it has many times before
They can draw strength from that magical night
they shared
