Troubled Genius

He was a troubled genius who was to pop music what
Elvis Pressley was to Rock and Roll
Like Elvis his music was the soundtrack of a generation
The stage seemed to be where he
felt most at ease and could take flight
 Easily transforming himself
from a simple man to one of the most
recognizable musicians in the world

For those of us on the outside looking in
It appeared as if this troubled genius
had everything a man could ever want
Everything from the love of three children and
fame and admiration to money which breeds power

I believe it was this power that lead to his downfall
It seems this troubled genius didn’t know
the meaning of the word no therefore
he did what he could to avoid ever hearing it
Those that knew him should not have been afraid to
put the king of pops’ health before his cravings for drugs
Maybe then this sad tragic chapter
wouldn’t have had to be told

Now here we are all we have left is
the musical legacy and the
great memories he left behind
This is the side of this superstar
I choose to remember and I always will
