Country Girl at Heart

As she begins reflecting on a childhood that seems so long ago
Some of her fondest memories are centered around the sound of
country music permeating throughout her home
Her father kept the radio tuned to country music
 stations for hours on end
There were times she heard so much of
the music she’d grow to love it drove her beyond crazy

Before she knew it she memorized
most of the lyrics to songs such as Tanya Tucker’s  It's A Little Too Late and
Pam Tillis  Shake The Sugar Tree just to name a few
She’d try to make her voice sound like the singers
who’s lyrics touched her in ways she couldn’t explain  but
no matter what she tried her voice just wouldn’t cooperate
By the time LeAnn Rimes released her first album Blue
she knew she wanted to be just like her someday but
on the other hand she knew it was a very  long shot

As her country music dreams have faded
and she’s found herself liking a plethora of musical styles
Country artists like Sugarland and others will remind her of
the great times she longs for from time to time
The truth is she’ll always be a country girl at heart
