Have you ever looked into a baby’s eyes and wondered what
the future will hold for them?
When she gazed into those dark eyes she
saw something so familiar and warm
which caused her to reflect back on a prayer a little girl sent to God
twenty-two years ago
The prayer was sent up to Him by a little girl
who had just been told she was going to be a big sister once again
Before going to sleep every night she’d say
Please God let this little one be a girl
Her wish was not yet meant to be
Instead He gave her a brother who became her best friend and
someone she would later call her angel
As she held the newest member of her family in her arms for the first time
she silently thought God answers prayers even those
all but forgotten ones
There are even times she can’t help but think her brother may have had a hand
in answering a prayer she sent to God long ago
Now she’s old enough to realize all children especially her baby sister
are gifts that bring a piece of heaven to the lives of their friends and loved ones
